Valentine’s Day Gluten Free Treats for Your Sweetie

by Karen on January 29th, 2013

Update: March 2014–Mama Ks GF Bakery is on hiatus
I started thinking about all the people who are on a gluten free diet to lose weight.  Some people LIKE the idea that they can’t buy treats at their morning coffee shop because they are following the gluten free diet.  Sure it makes you feel better even if you don’t have celiac disease but personal trainers frequently advise their clients to try GFree specifically to keep them from eating all the goodies.  And it is one good way to avoid the countless temptations.  My guiding principal is that if it doesn’t taste really great (and if it isn’t gluten free) don’t eat it.  Save the calories for something really good.

So in the interest of those who want small treats (a little reward for all your hard work) Mama K is Cooking Gluten Free for Seattle.

Chocolate Cake with Raspberry Filling and Ganache Frosting

We have a 6-inch decadent chocolate cake for two because no Valentine’s Day is complete without chocolate (see earlier post).  The cake has a raspberry filling and a ganache style frosting (like the inside of a chocolate truffle) and the cake is made with espresso, Felchlin Swiss cocoa, and buttermilk.

Chocolate Cake         6-inch 2-layer cake  20 ounces    $14.99
or a full size cake:     8-inch 2-layer cake  40 ounces    $29.99

Our second item is a mini strawberry-rhubarb pie.
